India's Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 Begins July 20

India’s Parliament will convene for its Monsoon Session from 20 July to 13 August 2026, following approval by President Droupadi Murmu on the government’s recommendation, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The 24‑day session is slated for debates on a range of national issues and the possible introduction of major bills.

Key agenda items include the pending report of a joint parliamentary committee on the 130th constitutional amendment, which proposes an automatic removal provision for prime ministers, chief ministers or ministers who spend 30 days in judicial custody. The amendment has sparked political debate over its potential for misuse. Opposition parties are expected to raise other concerns, such as alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Temple and criticism of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s handling of the Operation Sindoor controversy.
