India opposition MPs protest in Parliament over Ayodhya temple donation theft

During the monsoon session of Parliament, opposition members from the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress staged protests outside the parliamentary complex, demanding a fair and independent investigation into the alleged theft and misappropriation of donations intended for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. They argued that the issue concerns the faith of millions of devotees and called for the recovery of any misused funds and prosecution of those responsible.

The MPs also raised other grievances, including alleged police action against student demonstrators, the controversial amendment to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), and the government's overall reluctance to discuss these matters in Parliament. They urged Home Minister Amit Shah to answer questions, apologise for the handling of student protests, and withdraw the FCRA bill.

Rain did not deter the protesters, who insisted that without a transparent inquiry and accountability, the opposition would continue its agitation in the parliamentary precinct.
