India's pharmacy regulators face probe demand and new quality partnership

The Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA) has written to Delhi's Lieutenant Governor requesting an independent, high‑level inquiry into the Delhi Pharmacy Council (DPC). The IPA alleges administrative shortfalls, prolonged registration delays for pharmacy graduates, and possible financial irregularities following the resignation of DPC vice‑president Madan Singh Dedha. The association cites earlier police action in 2025 that busted a fake registration racket, urging an audit, regular meetings and a time‑bound process to clear pending applications.

Separately, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh Promote Pharma Council (UPPPC) during the YEIDA MedTech Investors Meet. The agreement aims to strengthen quality standards, regulatory compliance and innovation across the pharmaceutical and medical‑device sectors, including joint training, research collaboration and enhanced post‑market surveillance to improve patient safety and support MSMEs.

Both developments highlight ongoing efforts to reform and improve governance, transparency and standards within India's pharmacy and medical‑technology industries.
