India's PLI schemes draw over Rs 2.4 lakh crore investment and create 14.15 lakh jobs

The government reported that Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have attracted cumulative investments exceeding Rs 2.40 lakh crore and generated more than 14.15 lakh direct and indirect jobs across the country up to March 2026. The programmes have also supported exports worth over Rs 15.2 lakh crore. The largest investment has been in high‑efficiency solar PV modules (Rs 64,873 crore), followed by pharmaceuticals (Rs 45,158 crore), automobiles (Rs 44,326 crore), specialty steel (Rs 23,896 crore) and large‑scale electronics (Rs 20,580 crore).

Within the auto‑focused PLI scheme, 225 manufacturing units have been approved, with Maharashtra hosting the most (66 units), Tamil Nadu (38) and Haryana (35) trailing. The auto scheme alone has drawn Rs 44,326 crore of investment, created 67,820 jobs and recorded incremental sales of Rs 52,414 crore, while the government has disbursed Rs 2,386.36 crore in incentives. These figures illustrate the broader impact of the PLI framework on India's manufacturing base and export capacity.
