India's PM Modi awards 51,000 government jobs at 19th Rozgar Mela
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 19th edition of India's Rozgar Mela on 23 May 2026, distributing more than 51,000 appointment letters to young candidates via video‑conferencing. The job fair was staged at 47 locations across the country, with appointees slated to join ministries and departments such as Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services and Higher Education.
Since the programme began, roughly 12 lakh letters have been issued through 18 previous melas. Modi linked the recruitment drive to recent international technology and trade agreements signed during his five‑nation tour, citing collaborations with the Netherlands on semiconductors, Sweden on artificial intelligence, Norway on green technology, the UAE on supercomputing, and Italy on defence and critical minerals. He said these partnerships will broaden employment opportunities for India's youth.
The event underscores the government's focus on youth employment, skill development and positioning India as a hub for emerging technologies.
