India's Raghav Chadha urges shift from AI consumer to manufacturer

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha addressed more than 450 members of the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation in Hyderabad, discussing his political journey, youth participation in governance and the future of artificial intelligence in India. He warned that “India is becoming an AI consumer rather than an AI manufacturer,” noting that most advanced AI chips are designed by U.S. firm NVIDIA and fabricated by Taiwan’s TSMC, concentrating global AI power in a few companies.

Chadha highlighted the demographic contrast between India’s young population – about 65 % under 35 – and the average age of parliamentarians, now around 60, and called for greater youth involvement in politics. He also referenced his work on consumer‑rights issues, airport pricing, gig‑worker welfare and GST simplification, suggesting that such parliamentary interventions can shape broader policy reforms.
