India's RBI draws $40‑$41 billion in foreign capital inflows

The Reserve Bank of India’s recent policy adjustments have attracted nearly $41 billion in foreign capital since June, boosting the central bank’s foreign‑currency reserves and helping to stabilise the rupee amid rising crude‑oil prices and global market volatility. Measures such as streamlined approval processes for foreign portfolio investors, higher limits on external commercial borrowings, and enhanced digital surveillance of cross‑border flows have increased investor confidence and positioned India as a competitive destination for emerging‑market capital.

While the influx strengthens India’s financial buffers, the country also faces rising commodity costs that are pushing major consumer firms to raise prices, and demographic challenges in the state of Kerala, where an aging population and declining fertility rate could affect long‑term economic sustainability.
