India's rising javelin talents Ashish Yadav and Shilpa Kumari

India is seeing a rise in young javelin talent inspired by Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra. Ashish Yadav, 19, recently secured a silver medal at the World Under-20 Championships. Despite his international success, Yadav is actively seeking employment to provide financial support for his family in Mirzapur. His training at the IIS-SAI Centre in Hisar under coach Arvind Kumar has resulted in a nearly 20-metre improvement in his throw.

In the women's category, Shilpa Kumari has emerged as a prominent prospect. Hailing from a farming family in Jharkhand's Gumla district, Kumari is the current national record holder in the women's U-17 javelin category. Discovered by coach Binod Singh during trials at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Ranchi, she aims to emulate Chopra's Olympic success.
