India's Samarth Scheme equips 30 Udhampur women with wool and tailoring skills

Thirty rural women in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir are taking part in a 35‑day training programme under the Government of India's Samarth Scheme. The course teaches them to process under‑utilised wool and create handloom products such as blankets, shawls and other woollen items.

At the State Bank of India Rural Self‑Employment Training Institute the participants also receive free tailoring instruction and are hand‑crafting national‑flag accessories for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. A trainee said, "We are here for a 35‑day handloom weaving training program where we are learning various skills through practical, hands‑on instruction," highlighting the aim of financial independence and empowerment.
