India's Saving Culture Boosts Women Investors Amid Rising Foreign Outflows

Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, highlighted that women now make up about 35% of the fund's investors, with a tendency to hold investments for longer horizons. She warned that foreign investors have withdrawn roughly Rs 62,800 crore from Indian equities in early June, questioning how long domestic buying can offset these outflows without impacting market valuations.

Separately, NRI content creator Mukul Anand explained that Indians' strong savings focus stems from four major expected expenses: healthcare, education, retirement and weddings. He contrasted this with European social systems, noting that Indians must personally fund emergencies, private schooling, retirement savings and costly weddings, driving a pervasive habit of saving throughout life.
