India's Sensex Surges Over 600 Points as Oil Prices Drop Following US‑Iran Pause FAST-MOVING

The United States and Iran announced a pause in their military strikes, prompting a sharp correction in global oil markets. Brent crude fell about 5‑7 % to near $92 a barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate dropped to roughly $85 a barrel. The lower oil prices eased inflation worries and improved risk sentiment across Asia. In India, the BSE Sensex jumped roughly 550‑600 points to around 76,600, while the NSE Nifty rose 150‑170 points to about 23,925. The rupee strengthened by about 41 paise to roughly 96.15 per U.S. dollar. Gains were broad‑based, led by stocks such as InterGlobe Aviation, Infosys, Asian Paints and Bajaj Finance, and sectoral indices all moved into positive territory. Other Asian markets also posted gains, with Japan’s Nikkei and South Korea’s KOSPI modestly higher, and U.S. futures edging up.
