India's Textile Sector Boosted by Gartex Expo and Shift from China

The Gartex Texprocess India exhibition, featuring the Denim Show, will be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from 6–8 August 2026. The three‑day B2B event will host more than 185 exhibitors and 700 brands, showcasing over 1,200 products across 14,850 sqm. Organized with the support of the Denim Manufacturers Association, the Denim Show will highlight the full denim value chain, including mills, fabrics, finishing, machinery and chemicals, with participation from companies such as Arvind, Raymond and Maruti Denim.

Analysts at Nuvama Institutional Equities say the Indian textile industry now faces its strongest growth opportunity in decades as global apparel sourcing moves away from China. Tariff parity, new trade deals – notably the India‑UK CETA and pending India‑EU FTA – and normalising US retail inventories could allow India to capture a larger share of the $1.6 trillion global market. Challenges remain, including heavy reliance on cotton and a shift toward man‑made fibres, but improved trade access and policy support are expected to drive export expansion.
