India's top 10 firms see ₹3.65 lakh crore market cap surge
Nine of India's top 10 most valued companies saw a combined market capitalization increase of ₹3.65 lakh crore last week. This surge occurred amid a bullish trend in the Indian equity markets, where the BSE Sensex rose by 3.11% and the NSE Nifty gained 2.77%, marking their strongest weekly performance in nearly six months.
The rally was primarily driven by a rebound in information technology stocks following positive September quarter earnings. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was the largest wealth creator, with its market valuation increasing by ₹1,08,542.63 crore to reach ₹8,91,134.96 crore. Other significant gainers included Bharti Airtel, Infosys, and Reliance Industries.
In the banking sector, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank also recorded substantial gains. While most major firms saw growth, Larsen & Toubro was the only company among the top 10 to experience a decline in market valuation.
