IndiGo to End Wide‑Body Operations and 787 Lease with Norse Atlantic by Oct 2026
IndiGo announced that it will discontinue its wide‑body operations from 25 October 2026 and will conclude its damp‑lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways by 31 October 2026. The airline will return five Boeing 787‑9 Dreamliners to Norse Atlantic, ending the ACMI partnership that began in early 2025.
The decision was attributed to a “significantly more challenging operating environment” caused by ongoing geopolitical tensions, higher fuel prices, air‑space disruptions linked to the Middle‑East conflict and currency pressures that have reduced route efficiency and competitiveness.
As part of the transition, IndiGo will continue the Mumbai–Amsterdam service using an Airbus A321XLR from 25 October, while flights to and from London Heathrow will be temporarily suspended until the airline receives its Airbus A350‑900 fleet. Norse Atlantic CEO Eivind Roald said the aircraft return “opens strategic opportunities” for the carrier, and IndiGo’s SVP Abhijit Dasgupta thanked Norse Atlantic for the partnership.
