A satirical online movement called the Popular Party of Cockroaches (CJP) has emerged in India, using humor and AI‑generated memes to criticize government corruption, nepotism and unemployment. Founded by Boston‑based Indian student Abhijeet Dipke, the group quickly amassed over 20 million Instagram followers, surpassing the Indian prime minister’s own party. Participants sign up via a form highlighting unemployment and social‑media activity, and share the hashtag #MainBhiCockroach (“I am also a cockroach”).

The Indian authorities have responded by blocking the party’s Twitter account, filing legal challenges and targeting its website with cyber attacks, signalling official concern over the movement’s rapid spread and its potential to galvanise frustrated young voters.
