India’s Wealth Creators Hold About 30% of GDP Across 3,040 Individuals
The 360 ONE Wealth Creators List 2026, compiled with Crisil Intelligence, identifies 3,040 Indian individuals whose wealth exceeds Rs 425 crore each. Combined, their holdings amount to roughly Rs 330 trillion, equivalent to about 30 % of India’s nominal GDP. The top ten individuals own around 19 % of this wealth, while the top 100 hold 46 %. Twelve business families—including the Adani, Ambani, Mittal, Birla and Premji families—each possess more than Rs 1 lakh crore, with the Ambani heirs occupying the three leading positions. A notable share of wealth is shifting toward younger founders: 285 creators under 40 control Rs 14.5 lakh crore (about 14 % of the list). Industrial conglomerates dominate the list, accounting for 14.6 % of total wealth, followed by pharmaceuticals (11.3 %) and financial services (7.9 %). Emerging sectors contribute 15.5 % of the wealth pool. Geographically, Mumbai hosts 802 creators (38.4 % of the total), Ahmedabad 8.7 %, and Bengaluru 8.1 %. The report underscores a widening concentration of economic power in India’s private sector and a growing presence of younger, first‑generation entrepreneurs.
