India's workers and farmers hold national convention in New Delhi
On 29 July, a joint national convention of workers and farmers was organised by the Central Trade Unions and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. Thousands of participants from industrial, public‑sector, transport, banking, insurance, informal, gig and agricultural backgrounds gathered to adopt a declaration demanding stronger labour rights, expanded social security, decent wages, job creation and the ratification of ILO conventions 87, 98, 189 and 190.
The convention called for coordinated protests across the country on 10 August, framing the struggle as a defence of livelihoods, constitutional rights and national interests against policies seen as anti‑worker and anti‑farmer.
