Indichem opens semiconductor material plant in Gongju

Indichem, a joint venture between India’s Accutas Chemical and South Korea’s J&Materials, has completed its semiconductor material plant in the South Gongju General Industrial Complex in Chungnam Province. The facility, built with an investment of approximately 30 billion KRW, is designed to produce and refine high-purity raw materials for semiconductor photoresists, including monomers, photoacid generators (PAG), and crosslinkers.

The plant establishes a specialized supply chain where raw materials are sourced and synthesized in India and then transported to South Korea for ultra-high-purity purification. This model aims to reduce reliance on existing supply chains centered in China and materials from Japan. The facility features a cleanroom managed at a Class 100 level or better to ensure minimal particle contamination.

Initial production will focus on materials for Argon Fluoride (ArF) lithography, with ongoing development for Krypton Fluoride (KrF), i-line, and Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) materials. Shipments are scheduled to begin in September. The project is expected to create 26 new jobs and marks a significant step in diversifying foreign investment in the Chungnam region through industrial cooperation with India.
