Indie horror “Backrooms” and action film “The Furious” set for German release in June 2026

The horror‑thriller Backrooms, directed by Kane Parsons and based on his own YouTube series, will debut in German cinemas in 2026. The film, a US‑Canada co‑production, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve and is set in a pre‑smart‑phone era, featuring a protagonist who discovers a labyrinthine parallel world. Production credits include James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Shawn Levy, with a trailer already released.

The martial‑arts action movie The Furious is slated to open in Germany on 18 June 2026. Directed by Kenji Tanigaki, the film follows plumber‑father Wang Wei (Xie Miao) as he battles a child‑trafficking ring, intersecting with characters played by Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian. The movie showcases elaborate fight choreography reminiscent of The Raid, and its promotional material highlights high‑octane sequences such as a truck‑top melee and a hammer‑based showdown.
