Indigenous heritage and community initiatives highlighted in Brazil
In Brazil, various initiatives are focusing on the preservation and promotion of indigenous and ancestral heritage. In Ribeirão Pires, the Sebastião Vayego de Carvalho municipal school hosted a workshop titled ‘Empoderamento feminino: raízes que nos fortalecem’ (Female empowerment: roots that strengthen us). The event was designed for mothers of first-grade students, offering a space for exchange and reflection on indigenous and African ancestral roots and their role in social and cultural formation.
In Foz do Iguaçu, the Hotel das Cataratas has launched an immersive experience in partnership with Cidades Invisíveis and the Projeto Onças do Iguaçu. This program connects guests with the Avá-Guarani community of Tekoha Ocoy, combining hospitality with environmental conservation and indigenous culture. The initiative includes activities in the Iguaçu National Park and a charity auction to support the Teko Ñemoingo Indigenous State College.
