Indigenous man's body recovered from São Francisco River
The body of a 40-year-old indigenous man was recovered from the São Francisco River on Sunday, November 11, in the Porto da Folha region of Sergipe. The man had been missing since the morning of Thursday, November 8, after reportedly going fishing with a harpoon.
The search operation, conducted by the Military Firefighters Corps of Sergipe (CBMSE), included surface searches and underwater diving. Members of the Xokó indigenous village, led by Cacique Bá, supported the rescue efforts using four vessels. The body was eventually spotted by local fishermen on Sunday morning.
Following the recovery, forensic and medical legal teams were called to the scene to conduct necessary legal procedures.
