Indigenous organizations hold summit in Colombia
Indigenous peoples and social organizations held a summit from October 11 to 13, 2026, to discuss collective rights and future strategies. The gathering included major national organizations such as the Consejo Regional Indígena del Huila, the Consejo Regional Indígena del Caldas, and the Nasawe’sx Dxi’j of Valle del Cauca.
The summit focused on five core pillars: life, human rights, and peace; land and territory; autonomous economies; self-determination; and the non-regression of rights. Participants developed 33 points of conclusion addressing internal and external unity, legal strategies to combat the regression of rights, communication, and peace-building proposals.
The event coincided with the commemoration of Indigenous Resistance Day, featuring a tribute by the Indigenous Guard to emphasize territorial unity and strength.
