Indigenous Urban Games gather 500 participants in Campo Grande

The 19th edition of the Indigenous Urban Games brought together approximately 500 participants from 21 indigenous communities in Campo Grande. Organized by the municipal government through the Municipal Sports Foundation (Funesp) and the Subsecretariat for the Defense of Human Rights (SDHU), the two-day event focused on sports competition, intergenerational integration, and the preservation of indigenous traditions.

Competitions took place across ten modalities, including archery, athletics, tug-of-war, futsal, society football, spear throwing, and volleyball. Chief Adolfo Fonseca Loureiro of the Vivendas do Parque community noted that the games serve as a vital tool for community health, helping to combat high incidences of diabetes and hypertension through physical activity. The Vivendas do Parque community emerged as the overall winner with seven titles.
