IndiGo and Air India to shift Mumbai flights to Navi Mumbai Airport
IndiGo and the Air India Group have announced plans to progressively transfer flight operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to the new Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). This transition is designed to ease capacity constraints at CSMIA and facilitate the redevelopment of its Terminal 1, which is expected to be completed by 2030.
IndiGo is scheduled to commence international services at NMIA in February 2027. The airline will gradually shift 12 daily international departures from CSMIA to NMIA, covering routes to Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, Dhaka, and Jakarta. Additionally, IndiGo will launch a new daily service to Kathmandu, expanding its NMIA international network to 12 destinations by July 2027. To ensure seamless travel, the airline will also relocate necessary domestic connectivity to support these international connections.
Air India Express will begin its transition in December 2026 with four daily domestic flights. Starting in January 2027, the airline plans to move services to Kuwait and existing Oman routes to NMIA, followed by a phased shift of services to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Doha, Muscat, and Sharjah. The Air India Group expects to complete this transition by the IATA Northern Summer 2027 season.
