IndiGo flight diverted to Ahmedabad following bomb threat
An IndiGo flight traveling from Lucknow to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, was diverted to Ahmedabad for an emergency landing on Thursday evening following a bomb threat. The aircraft, flight 6E097, landed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 5:45 p.m. after a crew member discovered a piece of paper with the word ‘bomb’ written on it.
Approximately 133 people, including passengers and crew, were on board the aircraft. Following the landing, all individuals were safely evacuated. Security protocols were immediately activated, involving the local police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). While officials reported that no suspicious objects were found during the initial search, security agencies are continuing investigations to determine the nature of the threat.
This incident follows a similar event on August 31, when an Air India Express flight from Dammam to New Delhi was also diverted to Ahmedabad due to a hoax bomb threat found on a tissue paper.
