IndiGo named Best Low-Cost Airline in India & South Asia

IndiGo has been named the ‘Best Low-Cost Airline in India & South Asia’ at the 2026 World Airline Awards by Skytrax. This marks the 16th time the carrier has received this recognition across various regional categories during its 20-year history. The airline also received accolades for having the ‘Best Cabin Crew’ and being the ‘Cleanest Airline’ in the India and South Asia region.

Alongside these industry awards, IndiGo has implemented price increases for several ancillary services. While base fares remain competitive, the cost for infant travel (for children between three days and two years old without a separate seat) has risen from INR 2,000 to INR 3,000. Domestic excess baggage fees have increased from INR 700 to INR 800 per kilogram, and the ‘Fast Forward’ premium check-in and boarding service has risen from INR 450 to INR 650 for domestic flights. These adjustments reflect a strategic effort to expand revenue streams through optional add-ons.
