Indische Buurt Festival returns to Amsterdam-Oost on August 29
The seventh Indische Buurt Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 29, in the Javastraat area of Amsterdam-Oost. Organized by Stichting Karrewiel, the free event runs from 12:00 to 21:00.
A central feature is the Initiatives Market, where approximately 70 local volunteer organizations will showcase their work. The festival also includes a fair with over 30 stalls, barbecues, the Java Cup football competition, an art street, and a dedicated kids' area.
Musical performances will be held at the Javapodium, which is collaborating with Plein Theater this year. The lineup includes Lionstorm (queer rap) and Hondenfokker (rave), alongside Orquesta Los Lamalos, The Pormpters, Reyck, and the closing act Project Soul Heaven. Various cultural organizations, such as the Concertgebouworkest and Jazzfest, are also participating.
