Inditex leverages Zara and John Galliano to target luxury market

Inditex is expanding its market reach through a high-profile collaboration between Zara and designer John Galliano. The collection, titled ‘Re{form} Zara’, consists of 157 items and was released online globally on October 1, with physical distribution limited to select flagship stores.

Analysts at Jefferies view this move as a strategic attempt to occupy the space between mass-market fashion and luxury brands, targeting younger consumers seeking higher quality and unique experiences. In the United Kingdom, prices for the collection range from £17.99 to £699.

While specific sales figures have not been disclosed by Inditex, Jefferies has provided theoretical calculations suggesting the collection could contribute significantly to the group's growth. The collection draws aesthetic inspiration from Galliano’s graduation work, ‘Les Incroyables’, and the British New Romantics movement, featuring elements such as lace, pleats, and Napoleonic-style silhouettes.
