Inditex reports revenue growth and strategic retail optimization

Inditex has reported significant financial growth and a strategic shift in its retail model. In the first half of the 2026 fiscal year, the Spanish fashion group saw revenue rise by 7.6 percent to 19.8 billion euros, with a net profit of 3.0 billion euros. While the gross margin increased to 58.7 percent, operating expenses rose by 8.3 percent during the same period.

Over a three-year period, the company achieved a 22 percent increase in sales despite a 6 percent reduction in the total number of stores. This shift is part of a ‘Retail Optimisation’ strategy, where the company focuses on larger, more efficient physical locations. By the end of 2025, Inditex operated 5,460 establishments, representing 103 fewer stores than the previous year, but with a total commercial surface area of 4.72 million square meters.

The digital channel has become a critical component of the business, now accounting for more than one-quarter of total revenue. The company is increasingly utilizing its physical store network as logistical infrastructure to support e-commerce, facilitating more efficient shipping and returns.
