Individual developers migrate blogs following security and technical challenges

Two developers have documented their experiences migrating personal blogs due to different technical complications.

One developer, Kyle Shevlin, transitioned his blog to Gatsby after discovering his WordPress site had been compromised. The hack, which had been active for four months, involved unauthorized changes to existing posts. Shevlin attributed the vulnerability to potential lapses in updating plugins and the core WordPress software.

Another developer reported difficulties migrating a blog from Middleman to 11ty. The process involved technical hurdles such as correcting improper YAML formatting in frontmatter and managing file structures during the content extraction and migration phase.
