Individual fundraising campaigns in Italy raise funds for medical and housing needs
Two separate crowdfunding initiatives in Italy have successfully raised significant funds for individuals in need.
In Olginate, a GoFundMe campaign for 36-year-old Jessica Scarpa has collected over 96,000 euros. Scarpa, who is battling pancreatic cancer, intends to use the funds to access Daraxonrasib, an experimental treatment not available in Italy or Europe. The costs for the treatment are estimated to exceed 40,000 euros per cycle, and the funds will also support potential travel to the United States for therapy.
In Palermo, a fundraising effort for Giuseppe, a local man known for selling small items to motorists, has surpassed 11,000 euros. The campaign was launched by Vincenzo Cefalù and Francesco Ganci to help Giuseppe secure housing after he reportedly lost his home and began sleeping on the streets. The organizers stated the funds are intended to find him accommodation and cover essential initial expenses.
