Indonesia advances digital economy through crypto gamification and data center expansion
Indonesian digital and financial sectors are seeing significant developments in blockchain and infrastructure. The cryptocurrency platform Indodax has launched ‘DAX Rewards’, a gamification feature designed to increase user engagement and loyalty. Through daily missions and a point system, users can earn rewards ranging from electronics to travel vouchers, while the company emphasizes that these features are intended to complement, not replace, responsible investment decisions.
In the realm of Sharia finance, the National Sharia Board of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN MUI) is encouraging the development of Sharia-compliant crypto assets. These would be based on Real World Assets (RWA), such as gold or sukuk (Islamic bonds), tokenized via blockchain technology to ensure clear underlying value.
Simultaneously, digital infrastructure is expanding as NeutraDC, a subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia, has partnered with PT PLN (Persero) to develop hyperscale data centers in Cikarang, West Java. This collaboration aims to increase NeutraDC’s capacity to 200 MW to meet the growing demand for Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, and other digital services.
