Indonesia Accelerates Construction of Integrated National Schools (SNT)
The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikdasmen) announced that construction of a new Integrated National School (SNT) in Banyumas, Central Java, is set to begin in October 2026 on a 20‑hectare site formerly used as a camping ground. Vice Minister for Basic and Secondary Education Fajar Riza Ul Haq said the land meets all requirements and the school is expected to operate in the 2026/27 academic year, part of President’s Instruction No. 10/2026 to expand quality education.
In parallel, Kemendikdasmen and 30 local governments signed land‑grant agreements to speed up SNT development across Indonesia. Secretary General Suharti highlighted that the donated land will become a hub for high‑quality SMP and SMA education, while Director‑General Gogot Suharwoto emphasized the schools will act as catalysts for improving surrounding schools. The programme targets 37 SNT sites, with 17 to be operational by 2026/27 and a goal of 500 SNT services by 2029.
