Indonesia accelerates integrated livestock ecosystem development
Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, has announced plans to accelerate the development of an integrated poultry downstreaming (HAT) project in Bone, South Sulawesi. Following directives from President Prabowo Subianto, the facility is targeted to begin operations by July 1, 2027. The project, supported by PT Berdikari (Persero), aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem covering everything from seed supply and feed to technology and market access, intended to integrate small-scale farmers into the national supply chain.
Broadening the scope of national livestock development, the government is fast-tracking five integrated livestock zones across Lampung, East Java, South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, and Gorontalo. These zones are designed to strengthen food security by ensuring the availability of chicken, eggs, and milk. The government has allocated approximately Rp2.2 trillion for these five specific regions, part of a larger total budget of roughly Rp17 trillion dedicated to the national livestock ecosystem development.
