Indonesia Accelerates Sumatra Post-Disaster Reconstruction with New Budget and Fuel Distribution Plan

The Indonesian government’s post‑disaster task force has released additional spending authority for fiscal year 2026 to speed up permanent recovery programmes in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. Seven ministries – including Public Works, Transportation, Social Affairs, Health, Housing, and Education – have already received the allocation, part of an overall Rp100.166 trillion plan covering 11,520 activities under the 2026‑2028 rehabilitation master plan.

Officials urged swift procurement, contract signing and project implementation while adhering to sound financial governance. The task force stressed that funds must directly benefit communities, restoring housing, basic infrastructure and public services.

In West Sumatra, Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah reported coordinated actions to restore fuel (BBM) distribution disrupted by infrastructure damage. Measures include traffic engineering on key routes, accelerated bridge repairs with fast‑dry concrete, 24‑hour operation of the Teluk Kabung fuel terminal, and extending service hours at gas stations. The provincial government, Pertamina, BPJN and local police continue joint monitoring to return fuel supply and transport mobility to normal conditions.
