Indonesia's tax authority reports digital economy tax revenue exceeds 52.85 trillion rupiah

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) said total state revenue from the digital economy reached Rp 52.85 trillion through 31 May 2026. The bulk came from Value‑Added Tax on electronic system transactions (PPN PMSE) at Rp 4.88 trillion, with additional contributions from crypto transactions, fintech peer‑to‑peer lending and the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP).

DJP appointed seven new digital tax collectors – Strava, Inc.; Envato Pty Ltd; Envato Elements Pty Ltd; The Nielsen Norman Group, Inc.; Kling AI Pte. Ltd.; Law School Admission Council, Inc.; and PLAUD LLC – expanding coverage of PPN PMSE across sectors such as fitness, digital content, education and artificial intelligence.

Separately, the Ministry of Trade issued Regulation No. 19/2026 allowing online sellers to use artificial intelligence for promotion, provided they label AI‑generated content and ensure transparent, accurate information for consumers.
