Indonesia advances digital sovereignty and cyber safety

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has announced a strategic focus on strengthening digital sovereignty through three primary national agendas: the development of the National Data Center (PDN), the combatting of online gambling, and the protection of children in digital environments.

To enhance data integration and public services, the ministry is fostering cooperation between government institutions to maximize the use of the National Data Center. In its crackdown on illegal activities, the ministry reported that approximately 3.7 million online gambling websites and content items were removed between October 2024 and July 2026, alongside the closure of roughly 32,500 bank accounts linked to gambling networks.

Additionally, the ministry is enforcing electronic system governance regulations to prioritize child protection within the digital ecosystem.
