Indonesia advances plantation sector through integration and MSME product development
Indonesia is exploring strategic initiatives to optimize its plantation sector through integration and value-added product development. The Cattle-Oil Palm Integration System (SISKA) is being positioned as a method to increase the national beef cattle population by utilizing palm oil plantation resources. This circular bioeconomy approach uses palm biomass, such as fronds and fiber, for cattle feed, while livestock waste is returned to the plantations as organic fertilizer.
Simultaneously, the Palm Oil Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is encouraging MSMEs to develop derivative products from palm oil, coconut, and cocoa. During the Knowledge Exchange & Innovation Exhibition Jakarta 2026, officials emphasized that creating high-value derivatives will increase the economic contribution of plantation commodities and help local businesses meet international market demands for sustainability and social responsibility.
