Indonesia aims to launch 40,000 KDMP village cooperatives by October 2026

The Indonesian government, led by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, has set a target to have 40,000 Village and Sub‑Village Red‑White Cooperatives (KDMP) operational by October 2026. The goal follows the completion of the cooperatives’ formation phase slated for September 2026.

KDMP will serve as a distribution hub for social assistance programmes such as the Family Hope Programme, agricultural tools, and other essential services, and will also act as an offtaker for farmers’ and fishers’ produce to secure better prices. The initiative is backed by presidential instructions and several finance ministry regulations introduced in 2025, positioning the cooperatives as a catalyst for rural welfare and economic sovereignty.
