Indonesia Allocates Rp 21.9 Trillion for Sumatra Post-Disaster Reconstruction
The Indonesian central government announced an additional allocation of roughly Rp 21.9 trillion to fund reconstruction and rehabilitation across the disaster‑hit provinces of Sumatra. The budget will support rebuilding of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, irrigation, schools and health facilities, and is overseen by BNPB, provincial and district BPBDs, the Ministry of Public Works, and other technical ministries.
An extra Transfer to Region (TKD) of about Rp 2.5‑2.6 trillion has been earmarked for accelerated post‑disaster recovery, with joint monitoring by BNPB, BPBDs and the ministries of Public Works and Housing. The Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) received Rp 2.22 trillion to construct 7,952 permanent housing units for affected families, targeting 6,220 units in Aceh, 919 in North Sumatra and 813 in West Sumatra. The Satgas Percepatan Rehabilitasi dan Rekonstruksi Pascabencana Sumatra (PRR) has called on local governments to proactively prepare suitable land for these housing projects, ensuring legal clarity and safe locations free from flood or landslide risk.
