Jakarta Governor announces disability support and BGN corruption update
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced several initiatives to support vulnerable groups and improve public services. For citizens with disabilities, the provincial government is expanding support through the Jakarta Disability Card (KPDJ), which currently benefits 20,890 people. Additional measures include providing 37 specialized school buses, maintaining 88 special education schools, and planning an LPDP Jakarta scholarship program to enable students with disabilities to study abroad.
Regarding public administration, Pramono Anung has prohibited the practice of setting fixed donation amounts for the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) among civil servants, emphasizing that such contributions must remain strictly voluntary. Furthermore, the government plans to expand free public transportation access (KLG) to 21 categories, including job seekers, starting in 2027.
In legal developments, five suspects have been handed over to prosecutors in a corruption case involving the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The case concerns the procurement of over 19,000 electric motorcycles for the Free Nutritious Meal program, which allegedly resulted in state losses of approximately Rp863.8 billion due to missing batteries and lack of official license plates. Separately, the BGN clarified that a recent discovery of a body in Kendal was not related to any of its nutrition service facilities.
