Indonesia and Australia conclude Wirra Jaya Ausindo 2026 military exercise

The 14th Wirra Jaya Ausindo joint military exercise between the Indonesian Army and the Australian Army concluded in Semarang, Central Java, on October 9, 2026. The strategic collaboration, which ran from September 18 to October 9, involved approximately 125 Indonesian soldiers and 77 Australian personnel.

Training modules included combat shooting, military self-defense, combat first aid, casualty handling, and drone operations. Simulations featured tactical maneuvers such as drone-led reconnaissance, patrols, and simulated raids on separatist strongholds, as well as medical evacuations via helicopter.

Australian Army Attaché Colonel David Ghandy praised the exercise for strengthening bilateral ties and demonstrating the ability of both forces to work together effectively. He noted that the training emphasized core values such as service, courage, and teamwork, while fostering closer professional relationships between the two nations.
