Indonesia and Bulgaria discuss education and sports cooperation

Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani and Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Poulev met in Jakarta to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding partnerships in education, sports, tourism, and employment.

Puan emphasized that the relationship between Indonesia and Bulgaria is built on shared values such as democracy, multilateralism, and respect for international law. She advocated for increased people-to-people interaction through student exchanges, joint research, scholarship programs, and youth capacity-building.

Notable cultural achievements mentioned include the teaching of the Indonesian language at the University of Sofia and the existence of the Indonesian Permanent Heritage Collection at the National Gallery of Bulgaria. The meeting occurs as both nations approach the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
