Indonesia and China expand partnership as CNOOC reports major offshore oil find

Indonesian Investment and Industry Downstream Minister Rosan Roeslani said the country is inviting Chinese firms to co‑invest and co‑build stronger supply chains, talent pools and technology platforms, from electric‑vehicle battery value chains to digital infrastructure and renewable energy. He highlighted the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" initiative under the Belt and Road framework as a way to create an integrated industrial ecosystem that serves regional and global markets.

State‑owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced a discovery of an oil reservoir estimated at about 100 million tonnes near the South China Sea, roughly 170 km off Shenzhen within the Chinese exclusive economic zone. The HZ19‑6‑3 well produced 413 barrels of crude and 2.41 million cubic feet of gas per day, prompting both commercial interest and environmental concerns over potential spills and the region’s energy balance.
