Indonesia and China seek cultural cooperation to build global civilization

Kamaruddin Amin, Secretary General of Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs, stated that Indonesia possesses strong social capital to foster peace through its diversity of ethnicity, race, culture, and religion. Speaking at the National Seminar and launch of the Indonesia Friends of Silk Road Club (IFSRC) in Jakarta, Amin emphasized that harmony should be viewed as active cooperation and humanitarian action rather than merely the absence of conflict.

Amin noted that Indonesia's experience in managing diversity aligns with the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The GCI focuses on dialogue, respect for diversity, and cultural preservation. He suggested that the cultural potential of both Indonesia and China could be capitalized upon to strengthen people-to-people connections and contribute to building a global civilization based on mutual respect.
