Indonesia and FAO launch 2026-2030 agrifood system plan

The Indonesian government and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have launched the 2026–2030 Country Programming Framework (CPF). This five-year cooperation plan is designed to accelerate the transition toward sustainable, resilient, and inclusive agrifood systems in Indonesia.

The framework focuses on three primary areas of collaboration: the transformation of agrifood systems, biodiversity conservation alongside sustainable natural resource management, and the strengthening of integrated, risk-responsive systems using a ‘One Health’ approach. The initiative aims to achieve ‘Four Betters’: better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life.

This strategic plan aligns with Indonesia’s 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The partnership seeks to address interconnected challenges including climate change, poverty among small-scale farmers, and unequal access to healthy diets.
