Indonesia and Fiji strengthen ties through social aid and cultural cooperation

Indonesia and Fiji are strengthening bilateral ties through social outreach and cultural cooperation. As part of the Port Visit 2026 mission, the Indonesian Joint Task Force, utilizing the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991, conducted social activities in Fiji. These efforts included community service, free health checks, and the distribution of aid to the Fiji Navy and the Nakula Methodist Church, as well as support for the local Muslim community.

In a separate diplomatic development, Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon met with Fiji's Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, Charan Jeath Singh. The leaders discussed deepening partnerships in cultural heritage protection, artist exchanges, and creative economy development. Key topics included potential joint UNESCO nominations for shared traditions, such as stone-cooking methods, and collaboration in bamboo-based creative industries.
