Indonesia national football team match against Jordan uncertain
The scheduled FIFA Matchday friendly between Indonesia and Jordan in November 2026 faces significant uncertainty regarding its venue and status. Reports indicate that Indonesia has expressed security concerns about traveling to Jordan due to the current situation in the Middle East.
As a potential solution, organizers are considering moving the match to a neutral location, with Turkey emerging as a strong candidate. This potential shift may also affect Jordan’s subsequent friendly against Australia, which could also be relocated to Turkey.
Separately, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially postponed the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. Originally set for January 2027 in Saudi Arabia, the tournament has been rescheduled to run from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028, due to unfavorable conditions in the host country. PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir stated that the federation is prioritizing player safety and is working with coach John Herdman to develop alternative plans for the November international window.
