Indonesia and Malaysia allocate funds for religious house improvements
The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Directorate General of Hindu Community Guidance, has allocated Rp15.97 billion to improve services for Hindu places of worship. In 2025, 91 locations are set to receive Rp11.37 billion for construction and rehabilitation. The initiative includes Rp1.6 billion for 16 locations to ensure facilities are accessible to people with disabilities and children, as well as Rp1 billion for sites affected by floods and earthquakes.
In Malaysia, the government, via the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra), has distributed RM3.28 million to 164 religious houses serving the Indian community. This funding, distributed through the Dharma MADANI and Harmoni MADANI programs, supports Hindu, Sikh, and Christian institutions. Specifically, RM1.38 million was allocated to 69 sites, including 57 gurdwaras and 12 churches, while RM1.9 million was directed to 95 Hindu houses of worship under the Dharma MADANI Phase 2 program.
