Indonesia and Malaysia discuss educational cooperation and academic mobility
Educational leaders and government officials from Indonesia and Malaysia are pursuing increased academic collaboration and international mobility.
In Palembang, Indonesia, eight students from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) participated in the i-MOVE 2026 International Mobility Program. The initiative involved community service in Kampung Kapitan and knowledge exchange with several Indonesian institutions, including Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI), Universitas Indo Global Mandiri (UIGM), STISIPOL Candradimuka, and Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Raden Fatah. The program resulted in the signing of Letters of Intent to strengthen institutional ties between UTHM and the South Sumatran universities.
Separately, the Rector of Universitas Ibn Khaldun (UIKA) Bogor, Prof. Mujahidin, met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss strengthening higher education cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding academic networks, improving educational quality, and creating development opportunities for lecturers and students through inter-university partnerships.
